President Obama has signed legislation extending funding of federal transportation programs through March 4.

The measure, included in the Continuing Appropriations and Surface Transportation Extensions Act, was approved by the House and Senate just before their year-end recess.

Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), who will become the new chairman of the House Transportation Committee next year, said recently that a new highway bill was his “top legislative priority” for 2011.
