Congestion Tops DOT Agenda for ’07, Inspector General Says

he Department of Transportation Office of the Inspector General’s latest list of top challenges facing the department included reducing congestion, promoting new ways to finance roads, improving the performance of the transportation network and increasing truck safety efforts.

The annual report, published Nov. 15, identified the 10 greatest management challenges facing DOT for fiscal 2007.

Topping the list was a new item: implementing new initiatives to reduce congestion on the highway system.
