Con-way’s Second-Quarter Income Gains

Con-way Inc. said its second-quarter net income increased to $48.7 million, or $1.02 per share, from $46.4 million, or 96 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue jumped 24.8% to $1.34 billion, the carrier said late Wednesday. 

This year’s earnings included a 4-cent-per-share gain from discontinued operations, while last year’s included a loss of 3 cents per share.

Con-way Freight, its regional less-than-truckload operation, reported operating income of $77.4 million, up 7.2% from the year-ago period.



The Con-way Truckload unit had operating income of $12.4 million.

Menlo Worldwide Logistics, Con-way’s logistics and supply chain management unit, reported operating income of $5, down 28.6% from a year ago.

Con-way is ranked No. 6 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
