Con-way Freight, the less-than-truckload unit of Con-way Inc, said Monday it was introducing a new LTL pricing structure it said will streamline and cap payments.
The service, known as “True LTL Pricing,” is the trucking industry’s “first capped pricing model,” Con-way said in a statement, adding that it will offer customers uncomplicated, truckload-style pricing for large LTL shipments.
The model is “predictable and less expensive than truckload” and will eliminate the uncertainty, complexity and waste of previous LTL pricing models, Con-way said.
“Customers want LTL shipping to be easy to use and less expensive than truckload, no matter whether their shipments are large or small,” said Sean Devine, vice president of pricing for Con-way Freight.
“True LTL Pricing offers this certainty to everyone without the need for negotiations, along with all the advantages of Con-way Freight’s optimized network,” he said in a statement.
Con-way Inc. is ranked 6 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
