CNF Shareholders Approve Name Change to Con-way

hareholders of CNF Inc. have approved a corporate name change to Con-way Inc., the company said Tuesday.

The company, which announced the planned change in February, said it has begun a rebranding initiative with a new logo.(Click here for previous coverage.)

Starting Wednesday, the company’s shares on the New York Stock Exchange will trade under the new ticker symbol CNW, from the current CNF.



“We’re pleased that shareholders have overwhelmingly voted in support of this proposal,” said Douglas Stotlar, the firm’s chief executive officer.

on-way, ranked No. 6 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers, said it will be organized into three primary reporting units:

Con-way Freight, providing regional and inter-regional less-than-truckload service. The former names, logos of the three LTL companies — Con-Way Western Express, Con-Way Central Express and Con-Way Southern Express — will be converted to the single Con-way Freight log. Con-Way Canada Express will be renamed Con-Way Freight-Canada.

Con-Way Transportation, its truckload and dedicated expediting service unit, including brokerage. The former Con-way NOW expediting and Con-way Full Load brokerage units will be renamed Con-way Expedite and Brokerage. Air forwarding unit Con-way Air becomes Con-way Forwarding. Con-way Truckload will retain its name.

Menlo Worldwide, its logistics and supply chain management unit, which includes Vector SCM, the firm’s logistics management joint-venture with General Motors Corp. Menlo and Vector will continue to operate under their existing names.
