CNF Proposes Changing Corporate Name to Con-way
ransportation firm CNF Inc. is proposing to its shareholders that it change its corporate identity to Con-way Inc. and adopt a new ticker symbol, CNW.
Con-Way Transportation Services, which operates a number of less-than-truckload carriers, is CNF’s largest operating unit. The company currently trades under the ticker symbol CNF.
Shareholders will cast their ballots on the name change proposal at the company's annual meeting, set for April 18.
“CNF is a venerable symbol that traces its origins to the old Consolidated Freightways organization," said Douglas Stotlar, CNF’s chief executive officer.
"The Con-way name has emerged as a powerful, respected brand in its own right, known for service excellence and superior shareholder value. It portrays with more clarity who we are today, and what we will be in the future," he said in a statement.
CNF is ranked No. 6 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
