lass 8 truck orders in North America reached an all-time monthly high of 43,100 in January, with every truck maker reporting strong gains as buyers accelerated purchases ahead of new engine emission rules coming Jan. 1, according to data from ACT Research.

Last month’s preliminary total surpassed the previous record of 40,331 orders set in November 2004 by 7%.

All truck makers had “an extremely strong month. It was one of those ‘all boats rising’ months. Broad-based strength is usually a good sign that you are going to continue to see it,” Kenny Veith, a partner with ACT Research, told Transport Topics last week.

Many experts are predicting 2006 sales will hit an all-time high.
