Class 8 Orders Rise 20% in August, ACT Says

Orders for Class 8 trucks increased 20% in August from a year prior and were at their highest level in three months, ACT Research said Sept. 5.

ACT’s preliminary report said 19,500 Class 8 orders were placed in August. The seasonally adjusted order figure was 22,000 units, making it the third-best month in 20 months.

There were 18,000 orders for Class 5 to 7 medium-duty trucks, the highest number since February 2008, ACT said.

“August is typically a strong month for medium-duty vehicle orders,” ACT President Kenny Vieth said in a statement.
