Clarke Reports 2Q Profit; Trucking Unit Flat

Company to Boost Dividend

Canadian holding company Clarke Inc. reported a second-quarter profit from a loss a year ago, but its trucking segment income was flat.

Net income rose to C$7.1 million from a loss of C$11.7 million a year ago, while revenue increased to C$63.2 million from C$46.9 million.

Its freight transportation segment’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was flat at $4.1 million.

The company also said it will boost its quarterly dividend by 2 cents, to 10 cents per share. The dividend will be payable Sept. 13 to shareholders of record on Aug. 30.



Halifax, Nova Scotia-based Clarke, which operates in truckload and less-than-truckload sectors via its Clarke Transport and Clarke Road Transport units, also has a home-heating segment.
