China’s 2010 Heavy-Duty Truck Sales May Top 1 Million

Sales of new heavy-duty commercial vehicles in China surged 83% from a year ago in the second quarter, ACT Research Co. reported.

The increase to 316,725 units put annual Chinese heavy-duty truck sales on a pace to top 1 million units for the first time, ACT said.

ACT, Columbus, Ind., published its quarterly report, “China Commercial Vehicle Outlook,” in partnership with China’s State Information Center, on Friday.

The report said that more than 1 million medium- and heavy-duty vehicles combined were sold in China last year.

But the report cautioned that sales volume is expected to decline from the second-quarter peak over the second half of the year and into 2011 as China’s economic growth slows.
