Chicago Manufacturing Index Slows in October
he National Association of Purchasing Management-Chicago’s manufacturing index rose at its slowest pace in more than a year in October, Bloomberg said Tuesday.
The index fell to 53.5 from 62.1 in September. Readings above 50 signal expansion.
Economists had expected the index to fall to 58, Bloomberg reported.
Chicago is a major center of U.S. manufacturing, which is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.
