Business activity in the Chicago area expanded at a slower pace in June from the prior month, according to The Institute for Supply Management-Chicago Inc.

The ISM business barometer fell to 62.6 from 65.5 in May, according to a report June 30.

A survey of economists by Bloomberg News projected the index would fall to 63. A reading above 50 signals expansion.

Chicago is a major center of U.S. manufacturing, which is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.
