C.H. Robinson’s 3Q Profit Improves

Transportation and third-party logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide reported a third-quarter profit of $95.5 million, or 57 cents a share, up slightly from $93.6 million, or 54 cents a share, a year ago.

Revenue fell 15.6% to $1.95 billion due primarily to lower volumes and fuel prices, the company said late Tuesday. Transportation gross profit rose 2.9% to $306.2 million.

Truck revenue, including truckload and less-than-truckload services, rose 2.1% to $268.1 million, while truckload rates fell 7% excluding the estimated effects of fuel.

Intermodal gross profit fell 30.1% to $8.4 million, led by price declines combined with volume decreases, the company said.

C.H. Robinson is ranked No. 7 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of North American logistics firms.
