C.H. Robinson Reports Improved 3Q Profit

Transportation and third-party logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide reported a third-quarter profit of $102.6 million, or 62 cents a share, up from $95.5 million, or 57 cents a share, a year ago.

Revenue grew 23.8% to $2.4 billion, the company said Tuesday. Transportation revenue rose 8.6% to $336.6 million.

Truck revenue, including truckload and less-than-truckload services, gained 6% to $284.2 million. Truckload volumes increased 14%, while truckload margins fell due to higher transportation costs and higher fuel prices, offset partially by higher prices charged to customers. LTL revenues grew 18%, driven by a 17% increase in shipments.

Intermodal net revenue grew 10% due to increased volume.

C.H. Robinson is ranked No. 8 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of North American logistics firms.
