C.H. Robinson Reports Flat 1Q Income

Transportation and third-party logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide’s first-quarter profit dipped slightly to $85.4 million, or 50 cents a share, from $86.3 million, or 50 cents, a year ago.

Sales fell 15% to $1.69 billion, the company said late Tuesday. Transportation gross profit dipped 0.3% to $297.7 million.

Truck gross profits, including truckload and less-than-truckload services, fell 1.1%, while truckload volume fell about 10%, the company said.

Intermodal gross profit rose 6.8%, “driven by margin expansion and a small increase in volumes, due to an increase in higher-margin transactional opportunities and cross selling with existing customers,” the company said.

C.H. Robinson is ranked No. 7 on the Transport Topics Logistics 50 listing of North American logistics firms.
