Celadon Trucking Services said it will acquire Rock Leasing Inc. and Kelly Logistics Inc. Terms were not disclosed.

Rock Leasing, Warren, Ind., provides dry-van and temperature-controlled shipments in the Midwest. Celadon said the acquisition will allow it to enter that service category in many of its primary freight lanes.

Kelly Logistics, Wadley, Ala., provides dedicated equipment spotting and shuttle services to customers in the Southeast.

Celadon said the acquisitions will “further expand its breadth of service . . . to include temperature-control service, as well as an increased number of customer-spotting locations and increased multi-tenant warehouse space, in addition to its dry van, intermodal, regional and local coverage.”

Separately, Celadon is planning to invest more than $5 million to build a training center and add 182 workers by 2016, Indianapolis television station Fox 59 reported.

Celadon, based in Indianapolis, is asking that city for tax abatements totaling more than $210,000, the station reported on its website.

The plan is to build a 60,000-square-foot driver training center at a site in Warren Township near Celadon’s corporate campus, adding to the 630 people it employs locally, Fox 59 reported.

Celadon Trucking Services is a unit of Celadon Group Inc., which is ranked No. 44 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
