Carriers See Slight Rebound in March Truckload Freight

LAS VEGAS — Truckload carrier executives and industry observers here said almost uniformly there has been a slight rebound in freight demand in recent weeks, but they were unsure whether a significant pickup would occur in the second half of the year.“We’re seeing a bit of an improvement in the first part of March. We are very encouraged by that,” Glenn Brown, chairman of Contract Freighters Inc., told Transport Topics during the Truckload Carriers Association annual convention here.CFI, which is based in Joplin, Mo., ranks No. 62 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.“The last 15 days freight has been noticeably better,” stock analyst Thom Albrecht of investment banking firm Stephens Inc. told TT March 12.For the full story, see the March 19 print edition of Transport Topics.
