California Amends Drayage Rule

The California Air Resources Board said it has amended its port drayage regulation to include Class 7 trucks and make “dray-off” illegal.

Class 7 drayage trucks, which were previously considered exempt, must now register in the Drayage Truck Registry and modernize their pre-2007 model year engines, CARB said.

CARB also said the regulation now bans dray-offs, where a compliant drayage truck exchanges cargo with a non-compliant truck off port or intermodal rail yard property.

The amendments became effective Nov. 9, CARB said.
