Calif. Ramp Fix Ahead of Schedule

The freeway ramp to Interstate 880 that collapsed after an April 29 gasoline-tanker accident last month is expected to be rebuilt by Memorial Day weekend, ahead of schedule, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

California construction firm C.C. Myers Inc. won the $867,000 contract to fix the ramp, the paper said. Memorial Day is May 28.

It had originally forecast a June 2 completion date, ahead of the June 27 deadline set by the California Department of Transportation, the newspaper reported.

The firm will receive a total of $5 million in bonuses if it finishes the project by June 2, the Chronicle said.
