Business Inventories Rise 0.9%

Business inventories rose 0.9% in September, the Commerce Department said Monday.

The increase matched August’s increase, which was originally reported as a 0.6% increase.

Economists had forecast inventories would rise 0.8%, Bloomberg reported.

Factory inventories gained 0.7% and wholesale stockpiles rose 1.5%. Sales rose 0.5%.

When sales are growing, it usually means trucking is seeing additional demand to deliver goods and restock shelves.
