Bridgestone Americas announced the launch of a new drive tire tread that is engineered to increase retread value for fleets.

The Bandag B713 FuelTech drive tire tread incorporates a new proprietary compound, 3D siping and a continuous shoulder. It is also designed to deliver fuel efficiency and longer lasting wear life. SmartWay verified the new design.

“When partnering with Bandag on a retreading program, fleets not only get more miles out of less rubber, but they are contributing to a more sustainable society,” Jason Roanhouse, executive director at Bandag, said May 9. “The all-new Bandag B713 FuelTech drive tire tread can yield longer-lasting wear life, improved traction and reduce irregular wear, extending the life of a tire and maximizing fleet savings.”

Bridgestone said the new proprietary compound delivers 30% longer wear life and 7% better wear for more miles of low fuel cost performance. It also mentioned the 3D siping features 130% more biting edges for improved traction and the continuous shoulder design distributes weight and torque more evenly to fight irregular wear.

Bandag has been a subsidiary of Bridgestone since being acquired in 2007. — Transport Topics
