International Truck and Engine Corp. said Wednesday that its Brazilian subsidiary and supplier will provide compacted-graphite iron cylinder blocks for its new heavy-duty diesel engines.

The subsidiary, MWM International Motores, and supplier, Tupy, will provide the blocks for International’s MaxxForce 11 and MaxxForce 13 engines, the company said.

International, a unit of Navistar International Corp., said in October it will build the Class 8 “big-bore” engines in Huntsville, Ala.

Production there will begin next spring. Initial engines will be partially assembled in Germany and finished and trimmed in Huntsville, the company said.
