Executive VP William Lin Set to Leave in Q3
Bloomberg News
Key Takeaways:
- BP's William Lin, executive vice president of gas and low carbon, will remain in the office until Q3.
- BP last week unexpectedly fired Chairman Albert Manifold.
- New CEO Meg O’Neill previously told employees that she intends to to announce a new leadership team this month.
BP Plc executive William Lin is to leave the energy major as the company undertakes an overhaul of its senior leadership.
Lin, executive vice president of gas and low carbon and a member of BP’s leadership team, will remain in the office until the third quarter, BP said in a statement. The departure comes after boardroom upheaval at BP last week, in which the firm unexpectedly fired Chairman Albert Manifold.
Chief Executive Officer Meg O’Neill previously told employees that she intends to to announce a new leadership team this month, according to people familiar with the matter. BP declined to comment on that.
“We thank William for his leadership, impact, and long-standing commitment to BP, and wish him every success for the future,” O’Neill said in an internal note.
Lin leaves after more than three decades at company where he held various leadership roles. He recently led a delegation to Venezuela, where a deal was agreed to explore for natural gas.
There’s no indication Lin’s exit is related to Manifold’s departure.
