ogistics firm Billings Transportation Group sold two of its divisions and will stop operations in Lexington, N.C., the Associated Press reported Friday.

Billings sold its international and domestic logistics divisions to Aero Logistics, San Francisco, which will move the domestic logistics operations and eight Lexington employees to another location.

About 225 employees will lose their jobs in the Lexington area, AP said. Aero will keep Billings’ international logistic operations in Atlanta, where three Billings employees will continue to work.

About 100 Billings employees in terminals and sales offices around the country also will lose their jobs, AP said.

By ending operations, the company will be able to pay wages and meet other obligations, Mike Albert, Billings’ president said. It was a “very difficult decision,” he said.
