Beer Wholesalers Support Intrastate Licenses

Beer wholesalers want to give states the right to issue commercial licenses to truck drivers operating in intrastate commerce.

The National Beer Wholesalers Association is working to build support for legislation sponsored by Rep. Howard Coble (R-N.C.). The measure gives states the option to issue intrastate licenses rather than requiring them to get commercial driver licenses that are limited to drivers age 21 or older.

Nearly 1,000 beer distributors visited lawmakers to garner support for the proposal during the association’s legislative conference that ran from April 9 to 12.
