UPS Inc. said Jim Barber will become president of UPS International, succeeding Dan Brutto, who will retire at the end of April.

Barber, currently the head of UPS Europe, will join the company’s management committee, made up of its 10 most senior executives.

Barber has been with the company since 1985 and has been a senior executive on its international management team since 2004. Brutto was with UPS for 38 years.

“Jim will be very effective in expanding our international business while driving innovation, new services and improving profitability,” Chairman and CEO Scott Davis said in a statement.

UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
