Authorities Seek Stolen DOT Laptops

uthorities are searching for two laptops stolen from Department of Transportation officials, according to reports from DOT and the Miami Herald newspaper.

DOT said last Wednesday a laptop containing personal identification information of more than 80,000 Miami-Dade county commercial driver’s license holders was stolen from a government vehicle.

The computer contains such information as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and addresses, DOT said in a statement.



DOT said last Friday it is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the stolen computer.

Meanwhile, the Miami Herald reported Monday that DOT is also on the lookout for a second stolen laptop.

The computer was taken in April from a conference room in an Orlando hotel, the Herald said.
