ATA’s Share the Road Backs West Virginia Charities

W.Va. Trucking Assn., Nonprofit Group Good360 Also Contribute

Two West Virginia charities that aid children and families secured much needed supplies, thanks to a partnership between American Trucking Associations and nonprofit Good360.

ATA’s Share the Road Highway Safety tractor-trailer delivered products donated by corporations and distributed by Good360 to the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia in Fairlea, W.Va., and the Family Refuge Center in Lewisburg, W.Va.

The deliveries were timed to coincide with ATA’s Leadership Meeting this week in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Members of the West Virginia Trucking Association were instrumental in the transport of the donated supplies, ATA said.

“The men and women who make up the American trucking industry, make up a central component of our nation’s economy,” said Rep. Nick Rahall, the ranking Democrat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

“And, as we witness, they deliver more than goods safely. Throughout the country and the year, their big hearts spread compassion and comfort,” Rahall said.

Southeastern Freight Lines driver Jeff Wade was behind the wheel of ATA’s tractor. Clarence Jenkins, who drives for UPS Freight, and David Boyer, who hauls for ABF Freight System, helped unload the trailer.

“The trucking industry brings virtually everything we use daily,” said Wade, who boasts almost 1.5 million accident-free miles. “It is an honor to be involved in such an important delivery, and to be able to give back to those in need.”

Crayola LLC, Hallmark Cards, Scentsy Inc., Estee Lauder, MaryKay Inc. and Hanesbrands Inc. provided the products, while Con-way Freight, a unit of Con-Way Inc., and ATA donated the transportation.

Children’s Home Society is a non-profit child welfare group and the Family Refuge Center combats domestic violence. Good360, Alexandria, Va., distributes an array of consumer products donated by companies.
