ATA Wins EPA's SmartWay Affiliate Challenge Award Again

The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded American Trucking Associations its seventh SmartWay Affiliate Challenge Award.

EPA credited ATA with briefing newly installed state trucking association executives about SmartWay strategies; collaborating with international trucking associations, such as the Japanese Trucking Association and the Saudi Arabian government; advancing freight-efficiency policies through diverse outside stakeholders; and working with Transport Topics to prominently feature the SmartWay brand.

“We take tremendous pride in receiving this award for the seventh time and for the sixth consecutive year. It is a testament to the remarkable progress our industry has made toward energy efficiency and environmental sustainability,” ATA President Chris Spear said. “Our federation is fully committed to reducing fuel use and emissions, setting our industry on a road to a sustainable future that shrinks our environmental footprint and boosts our bottom line.”

“The SmartWay program is a demonstrable success with measurable results,” said Glen Kedzie, ATA vice president and energy and environmental affairs counsel.
