ATA Supports MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving

American Trucking Associations this week expressed its support for the group Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s campaign to eliminate drunk driving.

“ATA and MADD share a common goal of reducing injuries and fatalities on our nation's highways — the trucking industry’s workplace,” said ATA President Bill Graves.

“We welcome the opportunity to support their efforts to remove drunk drivers from our roads,” he said in a statement.

MADD’s campaign calls for law enforcement activities like sobriety checkpoints, mandatory ignition interlock devices for convicted drunk drivers, and the development of technology to detect whether a driver is under the legal limit and prevent the vehicle from being operated if the driver is impaired.
