ATA, OOIDA Urge NHTSA to Reconsider Vehicle-Lighting Rules

pair of trucking groups urged the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to take another look at proposed changes to its rules on vehicle lights and similar equipment.

In comments filed with the agency late last month, American Trucking Associations and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association said portions of the proposed rule aimed at clarifying how lights and other reflective equipment should be installed on all vehicles should be changed because they conflict with other federal rules.

NHTSA had published its proposals in late December. The public comments period ended March 30.
