American Trucking Associations and the National Tank Truck Carriers announced the release of a video aimed at preventing cargo tank rollovers.

The video, produced in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Transportation, features several experienced tank truck drivers educating other drivers about the contributing factors to rollovers and offers steps to prevent such incidents.

Research shows that driver action plays a role in the majority of rollovers, so properly educating drivers has the potential to reduce the occurrence of those incidents, ATA said Tuesday.

“Although rollovers are rare, we recognize that they can be serious,” said NTTC President John Conley. “This outreach video is part of our proactive commitment to work with the government or anyone else in improving truck safety and minimizing the risk of such incidents.”

“We were pleased to have the opportunity to work so closely with the government safety community, and are proud of the important driver training video that resulted from this successful collaboration,” added ATA President Bill Graves.
