ATA Names Vice President of Safety Policy

American Trucking Associations said it has hired Rob Abbott as its vice president of safety policy.

Abbott returns to ATA after having served in the same position in the 1990s, ATA said in a statement Tuesday.

As vice president of safety policy, Abbott will work to develop ATA’s safety agenda, the association said. He will also represent ATA before the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, among other groups and organizations.

Prior to returning to ATA, Abbott was vice president of safety and compliance for TransForce.

Abbott fills a vacancy left by Dave Osiecki, who was promoted to senior vice president of policy and regulatory affairs, ATA said.
