The Trucking Association Executives Council (TAEC) brought together more than 40 state association and conference executives during its annual summer meeting.

The 2021 TAEC Summer Conference participants focused on several topics during the meeting in California, including panel discussions, breakout sessions and educational sessions. Special presentations were also made at the closing banquet.

“The purpose of this annual event is to bring state execs and conference execs together to share ideas, network and most importantly focus on issues that we all need to make a priority,” 2021 TAEC National Chairman Brenda Neville said. “This year lawsuit abuse took center stage as all state associations work to move this to the forefront in their respective states.”

TAEC includes staff executives of state trucking associations and conferences affiliated with American Trucking Associations. Its mission is to promote the trucking industry while also supporting and complementing advocacy efforts.

“The networking that takes place at the annual TAEC summer conference is one of the biggest benefits of this meeting,” Neville said. “Learning from our colleagues and sharing ideas and strategies to make us more effective in our respective states is always one of the most valuable takeaways.”

ATA President Chris Spear and ATA First Vice Chairman Harold Sumerford were among the featured speakers that attended the annual meeting. The meeting also provides an opportunity for networking with colleagues and event sponsors.

Nevada Trucking Association President Paul Enos was elected as the 2022 TAEC National Chairman.

American Transportation Research Institute Senior Vice President Dan Murray was awarded the Bob Halladay Award.

Tennessee Trucking Association President Dave Huneryager and Florida Trucking Association President Ken Armstrong were also honored for their leadership and contributions as state association executives.

“We often refer to this group as the TAEC family because we really are like family,” Neville said. “There are 49 of us that have the same goals every day to serve our respective members while advocating for trucking in different states. We rely heavily on the support of one another, and the mutual respect and appreciation we have for one another truly make us a unique family.”
