Ashland to Sell Highway Construction Business to Oldcastle Materials

hemical and construction company Ashland Inc. will sell its highway construction business to Oldcastle Materials, the Associated Press reported Monday.

The division, Ashland Paving and Construction Company, has about 9,700 employees and operates numerous sand, rock, gravel, asphalt and concrete facilities in 14 Southern and Midwestern states, AP said.

The deal marks a major expansion of the U.S. business of Oldcastle parent company CRH PLC, which is based in Ireland, AP reported.



According to AP, the companies expect to close the deal by the end of August.
