Judy McReynolds, CEO of ArcBest Corp., is the new head of the board of directors of the American Transportation Research Institute.

The ATRI board of directors made the announcement Oct. 20.

McReynolds succeeds Steve Williams, the chairman and CEO of Maverick USA, who served as ATRI chairman from 2009 to 2014.

McReynolds has served on the ATRI board, which is composed of 15 trucking industry presidents and CEOs, since June 2010.

At ArcBest, headquartered in Fort Smith, Arkansas, she manages a multibillion-dollar freight transportation and logistics services company that ranks 13th on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of for-hire carriers.

She oversees operating companies ABF Freight, ABF Logistics, Panther Premium Logistics and FleetNet America.

McReynolds also is on the executive committee of American Trucking Associations.

“We are excited to see Judy in the chair’s role at ATRI and know that her extensive industry experience and strategic leadership will serve ATRI well,” said Philip Byrd Sr., ATA’s immediate past chairman.

In addition to her service on the ATRI board and at ATA, McReynolds serves on numerous outside boards including OGE Energy Corp., First National Bank of Fort Smith, the Transportation Industry Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and the West-Ark Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

ATA President Bill Graves praised Williams for his service as ATRI chairman.

“Under Steve’s leadership, ATRI’s research has gained worldwide recognition for its objective analysis of key industry issues on topics ranging from hours of service, CSA [Compliance, Safety, Accountability], congestion, highway funding and the environment,” Graves said. “The result is a safer, more productive trucking industry.”
