ArcBest Plans New Headquarters Building

ArcBest Corp. announced it will build a new headquarters in Fort Smith, Arkansas, a $30 million project designed to help the company prepare for future growth.

Groundbreaking is expected in the fall for a project that will create a total of 975 new jobs over the next seven years.

“As one of the area’s largest corporate employers with a bright future and growth plans ahead of us, we are excited to announce construction of this new facility in Fort Smith,” ArcBest’s Judy McReynolds said in a statement.

“With plans for growth at all of our operating companies … it is important that we develop additional space to accommodate these expanding businesses.”

The amount of the project represents the total investment by the company, the city and the state, ArcBest said in a statement. The move follows one month after the former Arkansas Best Corp. was renamed as ArcBest to signal its broader focus on all types of logistics services.

The company, which has a stated goal of increasing revenue 30% over 2013 levels by next year, now ranks No. 12 on Transport Topics Top 100 list of for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
