American Axle Reports Higher 2Q Profit

American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings said its second-quarter profit rose to $49.2 million, or 65 cents per share, from $25.4 million, or 34 cents, a year ago.

Sales rose 23% to $686.2 million, the truck and auto axle and component maker said in a statement.

AAM also raised its 2011 sales outlook to $2.5 billion to $2.6 billion, up from its previous forecast of $2.4 billion to $2.5 billion.
