Supreme Court to Hear Arguments on Clean-Air Compliance Costs
The nation's highest court will hear arguments Tuesday on the issue of clean-air compliance costs, the Associated Press reports.Industry groups, including the American Trucking Associations and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, are asking the Supreme Court to rule that the Environmental Protection Agency must consider compliance costs in setting air-quality limits such as harmful emissions standards, the story said.
Industry has complained that cost-benefit analysis is not used in setting health standards, such as the one at issue on particulate matter. However, cost-benefit is used later - in setting requirements to comply with those standards, a point emphasized in a report Tuesday on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition."
The high court is expected to make a ruling by July. Transport Topics
