Canadian Teamsters Protest for Better Hours Rules

During a recent protest in Toronto, leaders of the Teamsters union claimed that a Canadian proposal to allow 14 driving hours a day would be tragic.

The Teamsters demanded that the proposal be thrown out and the limit cut down to 12 hours a day, from the current 13 hours. The union backs a proposal that would ensure that truckers take 10-hour rest breaks, in contrast with the eight hours they must take at the moment. Toronto Sun (06/06/00) P. 26; Botchford, Jason
