-Viro International Corp. said Tuesday it has formed a private-fleet subsidiary to transport lime and other byproducts.

The unit, to be called Bio-Mineral Transportation, has already acquired equipment and will be handling all or a substantial portion of N-Viro’s feed stock hauling needs at its Toledo, Ohio, plant by the end of the year, the company said in a statement.

N-Viro uses lime and combustion byproducts to treat and convert wastewater sludge and other bio-organic wastes into agricultural products.

“As a result of utilizing BMT's trucks instead of those of an independent third party, N-Viro will become less dependent and less vulnerable to the increasingly volatile trucking and transportation industry, and will avoid unjustifiable cost increases and surcharges,” said Tim Kasmoch, N-Viro’s president.
