Agility, TNT, UPS Assist with Asian Disaster Response

Agility Logistics, TNT N.V. and UPS Inc. are collaborating with the United Nations to send food to people affected by flooding in the Philippines and an earthquake in Indonesia, the UN said.

The logistics companies are working with the World Food Programme, which aims to bring food supplies to about one million affected by the natural disasters in Asia.

The cyclone that caused flooding in the Philippines destroyed roads and bridges and closed airports, making the logistics operation especially difficult, the UN said. The Indonesia earthquake also severed roads and bridges.

Agility, UPS and TNT donated trucks, warehousing resources, logistics staff and coordination services to the efforts, the UN said.

UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics 50 listing of U.S. and Canadian logistics companies.
