Abramson Named Transport Topics Group Publisher

Howard S. Abramson has been promoted to publisher of Transport Topics Publishing Group, a unit of American Trucking Associations. His expanded duties are in addition to his previous roles of editorial director and editor of TTPG, and vice president of ATA.

Abramson succeeds ATA Senior Vice President of Information Services Bob Rast as TTPG pub-lisher. Rast will continue to oversee the ATA Information Services Group, which includes TTPG, management information systems, Web development, graphic and printing services, and economic and statistical analysis.

TTPG produces the national weekly trucking newspaper Transport Topics, monthly magazines Light & Medium Truck and Utility Fleet Management, and the TTNews.com Internet site that updates industry coverage throughout the day.

The announcement was made by Walter B. McCormick, Jr., ATA’s president and chief executive officer.

Abramson, 53, has experience on both the editorial and business sides of publishing. In 1973, he launched and developed States News Service for state- and local-specific coverage of Congress, federal courts and agencies and the White House. He has authored two books and served in editorial and business development roles at The Washington Post, Journal of Commerce and Bloomberg Business News.
