Able, based in Manassas, will absorb MTB’s database list of 30,000 customers and will bring on MTB founder Chris Jolma to expand residential reach, according to a Jan. 24 press release. MTB is headquartered in Alexandria.

Terms were not disclosed.

“Pairing together the Able name and outstanding customer service machine it has built with the volume of leads that MTB generates will leave me more time to focus on the growth capabilities in this area that will ultimately send more business on up the line,” Jolma said.

Jolma founded MTB in 2007, when he began servicing responses from Craigslist ads with a Ford pickup truck.

Able Moving & Storage was founded in 1987 by Bill, Jim and Joe Singleton. Similarly to MTB, the company started with one truck and initially operated out of the basement of a house. It now has a fleet of 75 trucks, more than 200 employees and operates out of more than 200,000 square feet of warehouse space. — Transport Topics
