Transport Topics Wins Five National Azbee Business Publication Awards

Transport Topics has earned five national awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors, including gold awards for Website Redesign and On-Site Trade Show Coverage.

TT also collected silver honors in the categories of Regular Column/Staff Written and Print Special Supplement, and a bronze award for New or Relaunched Website.

The 2018 awards, known as the Azbees, were presented May 10 in Washington, D.C., at The National Press Club. Earlier, TT had captured seven Mid-Atlantic regional Azbee Awards.

The gold award for Website Redesign recognized the new look of TTNews.com that took effect June 27, 2017. Highlights of the new site include larger photos and headline type, a more effective navigation bar at the top of the page, easier access to sharing tools, and the introduction of “trending” and “hot topics” containers to guide readers to the most sought-after content.

Staff coverage of the 2017 American Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition, which appeared in the Oct. 30, 2017, issue of Transport Topics, also earned the gold award in the On-Site Trade Show Coverage category. TT staff produced and edited 30 byline stories on-site, as well as several other news briefs and a two-page photo gallery. Top stories included coverage of speeches by two members of the president’s Cabinet, as well as a pre-written profile on Dave Manning, who became ATA’s new chairman at the conference.

A silver award for Regular Column/Staff Written went to TT Managing Editor/Features Seth Clevenger for his itech column, “The Interface.” Another silver award was bestowed upon the itech supplement, “Building the Autonomous Truck,” in the Special Supplement category.

TTNews.com also won a bronze award for New or Relaunched Website, which is distinguished from the Redesign award by a focus on innovation and functionality.
