Telogis Launches iOS Apps, Partners with Element, Expands Hino Collaboration

Fleet telematics provider Telogis has unveiled a line of mobile applications for Apple devices, announced a partnership with Element Fleet Management and expanded its collaboration with Hino Trucks.

The technology supplier announced those developments Oct. 27 at its annual business conference.

The new apps for Apple’s iOS operating system are designed to take advantage of the tools and features available on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch to provide better user experience, Telogis said.

Telogis’ apps include Telogis Compliance, which streamlines driver hours-of-service and vehicle inspections; Telogis Navigation, which provides truck-specific directions; and Telogis Coach, which scores drivers based on safety and productivity, encouraging friendly competition and performance recognition.

The connected-vehicle apps for iOS represent a mobile extension of Telogis’ software-as-a-service platform, which includes vehicle telematics, compliance apps, work-order management and route optimization.

“Working directly with Apple to build extraordinary user experiences into apps like Telogis Coach brings our customers a level of ease, familiarity and functionality that makes work on an iPad,  iPhone or Apple Watch more productive and more fun,” Telogis CEO David Cozzens said.

The telematics firm also said its new agreement with Element Fleet Management will make it easier for Element’s fleet customers to connect their vehicles and equipment through Telogis’ vehicle technologies and applications.

Element helps customers manage their vehicles and equipment through a variety of services, including purchasing, leasing, maintenance, safety services and connecting mobile workforces. It has operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.

“The demand for connected intelligence continues to grow, and partnering with Element will enable us to work together to connect their enterprise customers and transform the way they do business,” said Susan Heystee, executive vice president of worldwide sales for Telogis.

Meanwhile, medium-duty truck maker Hino Trucks has expanded its Insight connected-vehicle platform and is making the service a standard feature on all of its 2017 model-year conventional and cabover trucks.

Hino’s Insight platform, includes telematics service provided by Telogis as well as new remote diagnostics capabilities and a case-management service provided by Decisiv.

New Hino trucks will come with a one-year subscription to the Insight telematics service and five-year coverage for remote diagnostics and case management.

“In today’s ultracompetitive environment, customers need real-time data on vehicle and driver performance to manage their fleet efficiently,” said Glenn Ellis, vice president of marketing for dealer operations and product planning at Hino Trucks.

In addition to Hino, Telogis has partnered with Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, Isuzu, Ford and General Motors to provide factory-fit telematics platforms for their vehicles.

“We believe that OEMs will play a key role in the future of telematics, and the relationships that Telogis has established bring significant value to our long-term strategy,” said Michele Cunningham, senior vice president of products and services for Element.
