Matthew Godlewski has been named the new president of the advocacy group Natural Gas Vehicles for America. He will start Oct. 20.

Godlewski succeeds Rich Kolodziej, who announced in January that he planned to retire as soon as a successor was found. Kolodziej has been president since 1996.

Godlewski, who was appointed Oct. 9, previously was vice president of state affairs for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. He also was director of state and federal policy at Pernod Ricard USA and, before that, worked in the global external affairs office of Seagram/Universal Studios.

“The NGV market is poised for rapid expansion, and NGVAmerica has a critical role in that growth,” said Ron Eickelman, NGVAmerica chairman and president of Agility Fuel Systems. “Matt is an experienced trade association executive who has a proven ability to lead effective teams and collaborate with industry allies.”
