Nafta Trade Value Rises 8.5% in July as Trucks Carry Three-Fifths of Freight

U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico in July increased to $101.1 billion, up 8.5% from 2013, and trucks carried three-fifths of the freight, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported Sept. 25.

Trucks carried 59.2% of the trade among North American Free Trade Agreement partners.

Trucks transported $30.5 billion of exports and $29.3 billion of imports. Trade by truck increased 8.5% year-over-year, and rail rose 10%.

U.S.-Canada trade for the month by truck increased 8%, and rail increased 8.5%. Trucks carried 52.7% of the $55.2 billion in freight to and from Canada.



Trade with Mexico by truck increased 8.8% from last year and accounted for 66.9% of the $45.9 billion of freight moved to and from the country.
