Meritor Names Evans Chairman, CEO

Meritor Inc. named Ivor “Ike” Evans its chairman and CEO, effective immediately.

Evans, 70, has been a Meritor board member since 2005 and has been chairman of the truck component maker, and its interim CEO, since former Chairman and CEO Chip McClure departed the company in May.

His career highlights include chief operating officer of Union Pacific Railroad from 1998 to 2004 and vice chairman of Union Pacific Corp. in 2004 and 2005. He also has worked for Emerson Electric Co., Blackstone Corp. and General Motors Corp.

In addition to Meritor, Evans is a board member of Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Textron Inc., Cooper Industries and Spirit AeroSystems.

Evans was named to the posts “after conducting an extensive search process that resulted in an impressive slate of internal and external candidates,” David Devonshire, director of Meritor’s board, said in a statement.

“The board is confident that Ike's wealth of relevant operational, manufacturing and management experience, combined with the strength and continuity of the current management team, is the right formula to lead Meritor into the future,” Devonshire said.
