Wabco Holdings Inc., a global supplier of braking control systems and other advanced technologies, announced it introduced TailGUARD for commercial trailers in North America.

It is a rear blind spot detection system with active braking designed to help mitigate collisions while backing up.

TailGUARD monitors stationary and moving objects behind the trailer, such as pedestrians, vehicles, cargo and infrastructure, to activate vehicle brakes to slow or stop the vehicle to prevent impending collisions.

Active braking is enabled when paired with Wabco roll stability support on trailers. Sensors mounted to the trailer monitor about a 6-foot radius and activate if the brakes are not applied within 2 or more feet of the object. — Transport Topics
